I remember my very first tradeshow. The thought of leaving to a show the day after NYE isn’t so great after an extended weekend of partying, but can I say that for a 7am flight I got there around 4am and d@mn, was the check-in lines looooooong. Needless to say, i didn’t make my flight and had to chill at the airport for over 7 hours before a next flight was available. Anyhoo…onto tradeshows…
You go to so many of them you could probably walk through one with your eyes closed; although I’m sure you would start a ‘fender-bender’ with the rest of the tradeshow horde. Now, I don’t know how many you attend per year, but being that I take part in very few, I think I still need to keep my eyes wide open. Even though I missed my flight, I had a great time in the booth. I was able to learn a few conversation starters that helped me ease into the whole ‘sales grind’ smoothly; we also had a traffic driver for our booth using our dog tags which was a big hit. I did some walking around, and with so many tradeshow booths, they all started to become a blur. I needed something-anything-to catch my attention from the sea of booths. This being said, marketing and sales are going to put our minds together to create a fresh and improved booth. As usual, my imagination started to take over the more logical ideas and soon I was thinking of a booth simulating a maze…sort of a fun house approach. But of course, that won’t fly (good thing I’m not the marketing manager, huh?)! So if you happen to see a booth flaunting red, yellow and lime green panels with neon pink carpeting….sorry, it’s not Avaline. We definitely are looking to stick out from the masses, but we certainly don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb.
